About Me

Hi! I’m Danielle and I have been running ARTventurers Wakefield East and the Five Towns since 2020. I come from an art teaching background, having taught in primary and secondary schools and with young offenders. Art and creativity is my absolute passion!
I run my business from our dedicated children’s art studio, ARTspace by ARTventurers which is on Normanton High Street. My husband Mark is also part of the team, and you will often see our daughter Marley ‘helping’ out too! We pride ourselves on creating a welcoming, colourful, fun and friendly environment for you to create precious memories and masterpieces with your little artists!

From ARTspace, we run a range of different term-time and holiday classes for babies, toddlers and children (sometimes adults too!). We also host a variety of creative birthday parties for all ages. Out in the local community, we run nursery/school workshops and after-school clubs, intergenerational sessions in care homes, and creative fun at events!

On Sunday 1st December June, we will be hosting our next Scan Painting & Pregnancy Relaxation Evening with @hypnobirthingwithfranki 🥰An evening of creativity and relaxation! You'll leave feeling restful and with a beautiful piece of scan artwork to treasure.
We will be using acrylic ink to paint onto wooden discs, I prepare the discs in advance from your emailed scan image, so all you have to do is decide what colours you'd like to add 😍 I promise you don't need to consider yourself an 'artist'.We'll then enjoy drinks and treats before settling into a super special relaxation to calm you and connect with your baby 🤰Franki and I can't wait to welcome you there! Ahead of our new term starting tomorrow, I thought I'd tell you a bit more about me... 👩‍🎨I’m Danielle, a proud Wakey lass and have lived in Castleford for the last 8 years! I come from an art teaching background - after studying Art and Education at uni in Lincoln, I trained to be a secondary art teacher. I have since studied a Masters in Teaching and Learning and have worked in primary and secondary schools, as well as a 5 year stint in prison, teaching art to 15-18 year old young offenders!!I absolutely LOVED my time in the classroom (apart from the endless paperwork, targets, Ofsted, staff meetings etc. - I know many of you will relate!), but things definitely changed when I had my little girl, Marley, in December 2018. Going back to work after maternity leave just didn’t feel the same, I had loved spending time with other mums and babies at various classes and groups. I discovered ARTventurers, and became a franchisee just as the first lockdown hit and haven't looked back! I've had a rollercoaster of a business journey since then! In 2022, I moved into my own premises, ARTspace in Normanton, and since then my husband, Mark has been working alongside me too! You'll often see him at the counter doing lots of the 'behind the scenes' work and preparation for classes.I have always been passionate about art and creativity for all ages, but there is something so special about seeing babies and children squish and squidge paint without a care in the world! Every ounce of thought goes into each colour choice, texture, material, process and theme in our classes and I just love spending my time seeing families exploring together and interacting with the space and activities 🎨🖌If I haven’t met you and your little one yet, then I can’t wait to see you soon and help you to create colourful memories and masterpieces together! ❤
